On Saturday 31st October, the Prime Minister announced a lockdown throughout the UK beginning this Thursday 5th of November until December 2nd. The lockdown requires people to stay at home and to only leave for specific reasons.
“For education; For work, say if you cannot work from home; For exercise and recreation outdoors, with your household or on your own with one person from another household; For medical reasons, appointments and to escape injury or harm; To shop for food and essentials; And to provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer.“ – Prime Minister’s statement on coronavirus (COVID-19): 31 October 2020
Whilst many businesses will close their doors, the Prime Minister has made it clear that some businesses can continue to stay open whilst following strict social distancing and Covid-19 safety measures.
“Workplaces should stay open where people can’t work from home – for example in the construction or manufacturing sectors.” – Prime Minister’s statement on coronavirus (COVID-19): 31 October 2020
Since the beginning of the outbreak, R.L. Lovatt Ltd have been continuing to follow our own Business Continuity Plan (BCP), proceeding as normal whilst following the advice and Government guidelines on a daily basis. With the latest announcement, we will be continuing to provide our services throughout the lockdown and continuing our strict procedures in accordance with government and industry standards and guidelines.
R.L. Lovatt Ltd are also members of all official UK roofing and construction associations that keep us informed with industry news, training requirements and roofing standards.
R.L. Lovatt Ltd are continuing to take all necessary precautions to prevent and minimise the distribution to our office staff in the event of the outbreak. We are working to the enhanced personal hygiene guidelines where we have provided hand sanitizers, wipes, personal hygiene posters and sterile wipes for all equipment and workstations.
We have cancelled all meetings and have asked if any of our employees don’t need to visit the office, then please either call, facetime or email.
In the worst-case scenario, we are equipped to ‘work from home’ where possible. Whilst we are doing our best to endeavour to keep the business running, we may experience delays and issues beyond our control. This will be monitored closely and regularly, and any disruptions will be highlighted to our clients at the earliest opportunity.
Our labour workforce is being monitored daily and all of our operatives have undergone a toolbox talk which informs them on the procedures to follow if they or a household member are experiencing any symptoms and must go into ‘self-isolation’. We have expressed the importance of enhanced personal hygiene. All roofing and repair services will still be available, including roof inspections and on-site quoting, and will be provided with social distancing and hygiene measures in place.
R.L. Lovatt Ltd unfortunately do not know the extent to which our workforce could be affected, this obviously could have programme implications on all projects throughout the country not only ourselves. In this instance, we will update the specific site teams on a regular basis.
R.L.Lovatt Ltd are trying there upmost to keep projects ongoing as best as we can and working to guidelines safely and also making sure all who we are in contact with are also safe.
We will keep all informed of any more changes which may affect you as new information comes to light.
We do hope that this gives you confidence in R.L. Lovatt Ltd that we are fully committed to the safety and health of our workforce, employees, supply chain, our customers and anyone else who may be affected by the outbreak of COVID-19.
